USA – Connect two or more different devices without the need to connect to the Internet? This is the proposal of the Wi-Fi Aware, the result of three years of research conducted jointly by some of the world’s largest technology companies, through the Wi-Fi Alliance organization. The concept is similar to the Bluetooth but has more features and security when sending data.
The technology means that, once installed, the system recognizes the proximity of other nearby systems, even if there is no wi-fi network available to connect. According to the website Tech Crunch, if we type the name of a clothing brand on Facebook and leave connected the proximity notification system, Wi-Fi Aware can alert you when a store selling the brand is around. The warning is also done directly from device to device to find a friend in the stands at a football game, for example.
According to Edgar Figueroa, president of the Wi-Fi Alliance, the system, as well as practical, it is economical and does not require much battery power. With the certification of the first processors, the expectation is that the first devices enabled with hardware that allows the use of Wi-Fi Aware arrive in Brazil until the end of 2015.
