Former U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) analyst sentenced to 30 months in prison for sharing highly classified information.
Henry Kyle Frese, A 32-year-old analyst with top-secret security clearance pleaded guilty in February for leaking the data, regarding foreign countries’ weapon systems. He could face up to 10 years in prison.
According to John C. Demers the top national security official at the justice department (DoJ) stated, “Frese repeatedly passed classified information to a reporter, sometimes in response to her requests, all for personal gain,”.

According to court documents, Frese passed information related to weapons systems and he accessed information that was not included in his regular work. Both of these reporters were colleagues and one of them named Amanda Macias was dating Henry Frese.
Amanda Macias published eight articles which contained sensitive material taken from classified data leak. In May 2018, Amanda published an article that China had installed anti-ship cruise missiles and surface-to-air missile systems in the South China Sea.
