New South Wales Health Department has confirmed being targeted by a Cyber Attack, where attackers exploited a vulnerability in the Accellion file transfer system. It documents, supports, and everything related to the health and medical care unit that is affected.
NSW Health has now confirmed that their data breached by a cyber attack due to a vulnerability in the file transferring system of Accellion.
A report was shared on Friday afternoon in which it has been cleared that NSW Health is not the sole victim of the cyber attack caused by the vulnerabilities of Accellion. They also mentioned that the other organization’s and agency’s data also been acquired and they are now being informed at this by NSW Health.
The reports also detailed the data which has been assessed. It included personal information, identities, some medical history of numerous people. The software which has been stolen is now not at the use of NSW Health anymore.
NSW Health has already involved the state’s Police and Cyber Security in this matter. Even after numerous searches, the stolen data has not yet been seen in use against illegal things. The NSW Health has also set up a helpline to support and guide the victims of this cyber attack.
“If you are contacted by NSW Health, you will be given the cyber incident helpline details; if you are not contacted by NSW Health, no action is required.”

The NSW Police Force and Cyber Security have started to investigate the influence of this attack on different government agencies of NSW, who have been a victim of this recent cyber attack of Accellion. It has been roughly estimated that all over the world at least 100 organizations are troubled by this breach.
However, this is not the 1st time agencies being targeted through Accellion. In January, The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) ‘s server was breached due to the server of Accellion. Also in February, transport of NSW was affected by it.
